How Much Does a New Air Conditioner REALLY Cost?

August 11, 2020

Curious about the cost of a new air conditioner? We all are, but it’s difficult to get someone to give you actual NUMBERS, right?

Well, not anymore!

Just Give Me a Quote!

We completely understand that it’s annoying to get on the phone with an HVAC company, ask how much a new air conditioner will cost, and THEN be told that you can’t get an estimate without a house call… However, a technician really does need to come to your house because there are so many factors that go into how much a new air conditioner costs:

  • How much natural sunlight each room in your house gets
  • The size of your home
  • The layout of your home
  • The amount of people and pets in your home
  • Your own preferences, like whether you want a high-efficiency AC to save money in the long run on energy bills, or whether you want a very quiet model
  • Whether there are issues with your current HVAC system that will, unfortunately, jack up labor costs of a new AC installation — such as needing to install a new connector or move ductwork

So, with all this in mind, we hope you understand the many factors that go into how much a new AC costs, and also understand why we can’t honestly give you a quote on a new AC over the phone!

It Figures

But with all this in mind, we are still happy to give you some numbers! As for just the AC, it is typically between $4,000 – $9,000. We guarantee that, here at Parker & Sons, we can provide you with something closer to the lower end for a great value. Check out homeguide.com for more details, and their cost guide is in line with our experience! (This is not counting window units or ductless mini splits in the average.)

But again, why is this such a wide range? Because of the factors we mentioned earlier, but let’s get a little more specific. For example, when we talked about moving or installing ductwork in the home as part of the AC installation cost, this can cost anywhere from $1,000 – $3,000. Also, the cost of the unit itself of course varies, from $1,000 to $2,000, depending on the brand and features.

We understand that you’re looking at a lot of large numbers here, and that can be intimidating and overwhelming! That’s why, at Parker & Sons, we want to alleviate as many of your cost worries as possible. We offer many financing options and will give you a free estimate. You don’t have to have all the money right now! We have the solutions to make a new air conditioner affordable for you.

This is one of the many reasons we’ve been voted the #1 residential service company by Ranking Arizona for the last seven years in a row! If you’re in the Phoenix or Tucson areas, you can rely on us.
