World Water Day Giveaway

World Water Day Giveaway Winner

Parker & Sons celebrated World Water Day by helping a local family improve their home’s water quality through a community initiative. Valley residents were invited to nominate families who could benefit from a full home water upgrade, including a water softener, water heater, and reverse osmosis system, with submissions open from February 16 through March 16.

Through this effort, Elizabeth Vito of Peoria was selected to receive the upgrade. With support from partners, the installation included a whole-home water softener and reverse osmosis drinking water system donated by Eco Water, along with a new water heater provided by Van Marcke. While completing the work, the team also noticed the family’s kitchen faucet was broken and replaced it on the spot to ensure everything in the home was working as it should.

In her nomination, Vito shared that her family had struggled with poor-tasting water and the ongoing cost and inconvenience of purchasing drinking water each week. With three active boys involved in sports, the family was often refilling large water jugs, sometimes multiple times a week, just to keep up.

Hard water had also taken a toll beyond just taste. Vito explained that both her husband, who works in construction, and one of her sons experienced eczema and skin irritation, likely worsened by the harsh mineral content in their home’s water. A home water system had been something the family hoped for, but it hadn’t been financially feasible.

Hard water is a common challenge for many Arizona homes due to the high mineral content in the region’s water supply. Over time, mineral buildup can wear down plumbing systems, reduce efficiency, and shorten the lifespan of appliances like water heaters. Installing a water softener helps prevent buildup and protects pipes and equipment while improving water quality throughout the home.

For more than 50 years, Parker & Sons has been committed to giving back to the communities that have trusted them with their homes. Initiatives like this reflect that ongoing commitment, helping local families while raising awareness about the impact water quality can have on everyday comfort and long-term home performance.
