How to Remove Mineral Deposits From Your Shower Head

January 19, 2011

Mineral deposits in a shower head are not just aesthetically displeasing but can cause blockages as well. If you’ve noticed that your water pressure in your shower is not as good as it once was, it may be time to take action.

We have a solution for all of your mineral woes, and it won’t cost you more than $3! Follow these simple, quick steps to remove the deposits from your shower head:

  1. Fill a plastic bag halfway with vinegar.

  2. Take a rubber band and attach the bag to your shower head (make sure that your shower head is submerged in the vinegar).

  3. Leave the bag in place for one to two hours.

  4. Remove the bag and polish your shower head with a cloth.

Sounds simple right? Well it is, and the reason this works is because the acetic acid in vinegar acts as a solvent that attacks and removes hard water stains. And the great news is this method can be used to remove mineral deposits from your faucets as well!

If you would like to get rid of hard water stains and calcium deposits altogether the best solution would be to install a Parker and Sons water softener.
