Famous, Legendary, and… Surprising Plumbers (Part Two)

August 19, 2016

Welcome back to Part Two of Parker & Son’s definitive list of the most famous, legendary, and… surprising plumbers of all time.

Now, you may be asking yourself, what is a “surprising plumbing”? That, my friends, is an excellent question, and one for which you will have a clear answer in due time.

In our last post, we kicked things off with an 8-bit bang by introducing you to Jumpman turned Italian-American plumber, Mario.

There is little doubt, when most people hear the word ‘plumber,’ Mario is one of the first things that spring to mind. Today, we are going to dig a little deeper into the roster of famous, legendary, and surprising plumbers. Let’s go!

Ozzy Osborne - Godfather of Heavy Metal

Wait, we aren’t talking about legendary rock icons, are we?!?! No, we are still discussing plumbers. Before this English singer, songwriter, and performance legend first took the stage as the front man of Black Sabbath, the so-called ‘Prince of Darkness’ sold his soul to the home services industry.

That is right, before achieving international fame, Ozzy Osborn worked as a plumber. Seems a rather ignominious beginning for someone who would later be given the informal moniker of “Godfather of Heavy Metal,” doesn’t it? But, here we are.

After dropping out of school at the age of 15, Ozzy, known as John Michael Osbourne at the time, had limited career options. However, he had to make a living somehow. His plumbing career never reached the illustrious levels of his rock-and-roll career. In fact, he never made it past his trainee period.

Mr. Osborne has never been very loquacious when speaking about his early days as a plumber-in-training, and who can blame him, after all, these days his reported net worth is in the hundreds of millions.

This, my friends, is what we call a “surprising plumber.”
