50 Acts of Kindness: Barefoot Mile Freedom Walk

Parker & Sons Employees Volunteer with JOY International's Arizona Barefoot Mile as Part of 50 Acts of Kindness

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, Parker & Sons is reaffirming its commitment to community service through its 50 Acts of Kindness. On April 20th, 2024, Parker & Sons employees joined forces with Joy International and Arizona Barefoot Mile to participate in a significant event to combat child trafficking.

JOY International hosts Barefoot Mile walks to raise funds and awareness in the fight against child trafficking. Participants are encouraged to walk barefoot in solidarity with impoverished and trafficked children. This impactful organization has hosted 75 walks and raised over $1 million to provide freedom and healing to children worldwide. Over 30 Parker & Sons employees participated in the walk, demonstrating their support and dedication to the cause. Additionally, Parker & Sons donated $2,500 to assist JOY International's mission further.

Fausta Hirn, Director of AZ Barefoot Mile, expressed profound gratitude, stating, "I don’t know that you even understand the impact that this is making, just even you being here. We are saving the lives of children. We are rescuing children. We are giving them a place to stay and a place to live. We are rehabilitating them, educating them, and giving them the hope and love that they need."

Ken Hirn, Plumbing Supervisor at Parker & Sons, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the company's dedication to community service: "Parker & Sons has always had a generous spirit. When they started the 50 Acts of Kindness, I figured it was a perfect tie-in. It’s such a great outreach and a way to give back to your community."
