The bathroom sink stopper is a crucial component facilitating plumbing. However, over time, the sink stopper will inevitably become maladjusted causing the sink to lose water when you want it to hold water. With proper sink stopper maintenance, you can surely ensure your sink will be properly draining in no time.
There are two reasons that sink stoppers deteriorate: 10 alignment problems, or some sort of clog -- eg, hair, sludge.
Many people will attempt to unclog the drain by using bleach or some other cleaning solution, but there is an easier way to remedy this problem. Just replace the stopper.
All you need is a pair of adjustable pliers and a cleaning brush.
As a disclaimer, this is intended to be a general guide rather than a step-by-step instruction.
First, crawl under the sink and look for a nut that sticks out from the back of the drain plumbing. Use pliers to loosen the nut and remove the rod from the pipe.
Next, you want to clear off the accumulated gunk from your stopper. Take a brush and clean out all the sludge that has accumulated around your drain pipe.
Finally, you want to put the stopper back together. Connect the new stopper back to your drain and then run a pipe through to the hole in the bottom of the stopper.
Once everything is in place tighten up the nut, and then run the water to make sure your faucet works.
