Spring (Air Conditioner) Cleaning Time - Parker & Sons

April is here, and that means spring has fully sprung. For most people, that means it is finally time to head outside to enjoy some beautiful weather. It is time to have fun. Time to relax a little. But wait! Before we get too relaxed, there is one little thing we have to do. You didn’t forget about spring cleaning did you? Yaaaah. It’s a bummer. But it is something we have to do! Luckily it only comes once a year. This spring, let’s pay some extra attention to your air condition unit. After all, when was the last time you cleaned it up at all?

  1. Change Air Filters

All the cool air circulated by your air condition unit passes through your air filters. If you have dirty air filters, that means you are breathing in and living in dirty air. Over time, air filters become clogged with dirty, debris, dander, and pollen. Typically, air filters should be changed every three months, but if you haven’t run the unit all winter, it is understandable if you have put this off. Do it now before you start heavily using your air conditioner.

  1. Cleaning Outdoor Coils

Condenser coils are an air conditioning problem area that can get very dirty over time. The dirtier the condenser coils get, the worse the function as well. A great deal ofcondensations forms on the condenser coils which attracts dirt and grime. Unfortunately, when they become dirty, it becomes harder to release that condensation. Give the coils a thorough wipe down and they will be working like new in no time! While you are working outside, clear away other debris or obstructions that may have gathered around the air condition unit. It needs proper ventilation for it work at peak efficiency.
