Welcome back to the Parker & Sons blog, where we are taking the time to discuss the steps you can take to make sure you hire the right electrician each time, every time. As a homeowner or a renter, it is important that you have a reliable source of high-quality home services work, otherwise your property will quickly fall into disrepair. Once you find someone you trust, who gives you quality work at a fair price, then your whole life becomes easier!
In our last post, we talked about the importance of hiring an electrician or contractor who is properly licensed and insured. But that is not the only vetting you should be doing! Let’s get into it.
2. Ask for References/Look for Reviews
While this technique isn’t foolproof, it is a really good way to get a general idea about how some of your contractors previous jobs have gone. When browsing popular review websites such as Yelp, it is always important to do a little extra digging. Read some five star reviews AND some one star reviews, because every business will have both. Reading the actually words behind the stars can give you a clearer picture on the circumstances surround the reviews.
3. Interview Prospects
Once you have narrowed down your list by speaking with others and reading reviews, it is time to being speaking with actual people! Give each of the electrical companies on your list a ring and speak with them about their services. If they seem like good, friendly people who know what they are talking about, then they may be the company for you.
4. Estimates are Important
If you are hiring for a large-scale job, then it is important that you contact multiple electricians and receive multiple estimates for the work. Now, don’t blindly hiring the person who delivered the lowest estimate. Instead, look at the details of the estimates, and pick out the electrician you feel is the best fit.
