Thanks for staying tuned-in to the Parker & Sons blog where we are back with more tips and tricks to help you beat the heat and stay cool this summer without breaking the bank. Some Phoenicians spend the entire year dreading the heat of summer. Not you thought. You couldn’t be more prepared. While your friends are throwing away hundreds of dollars a month to power their air conditioning unit, you are chillin’ out, maxing, and relaxing all cool, counting your savings hanging by the pool. Let’s explore a few more ways to beat the heat this summer.

  1. Home management

Most of your time during the summer is probably going to be spentindoors, and for good reason, it should be naturally cooler indoors rather than outdoors. And there are steps you can take to make it even cooler inside! When you wake up in the morning, go through your home and close all the blinds. Windows are one of the primary portals through which your home absorbs and releases heat. Because they are see through, the sun’s rays pass directly through them. When you close the blinds, you shield the interior of your home from the warmth of the sun’s rays. Conversely, when it is time to go to bed at night, if you are not running the air conditioning, you should open your windows. This will allow all the warmth your home has absorbed during the dayto dissipate easily into the night.

  1. Crank up the fans

Fans consume much less electricity than air conditioning units. While they don’t actually lower the temperature of a room, the do circulate the air, replace warm air with cooler air and promote evaporation, which also has a cooling effect. Essential, fans help with heat transfer which helps you stay cool.
