Beating the Heat, Staying Cool, Without Breaking the Bank (Part One) - Parker & Sons

Summer is coming to Phoenix! We hope you are prepared. It is already May. My, where did the time go? It seems like just weeks ago we were offering you advise on staying warm without having to run the heater. You sure don’t get a lot of mileage with winter advice here in Phoenix. With summer ahead of us and winter far in the rearview mirror, let’s look at a few ways to beat the heat and stay cool without breaking the bank this summer.

  1. Get crazy with the water

This is summer. Worst of all, it is summer in Phoenix. Not only is it going to be hot. Like, hot-hot. It is also going to be dry. The best way to combat dryness is with water. It is so important to avoid dehydration. Most people don’t realize how easy it is to be dehydrated. Dehydration has many, many negative side effect. During the summer, make it a goal to drink 8oz of water every hour. Not only will you feel healthier, but your body will also feel cooler as well!

  1. Get in the water!

Water isn’t just for drinking. Especially in Phoenix. You can’t walk 100 yards without passing about 73 pools. Approximately 38 percent of homes in our great city have pools in the backyard. That is more pools than anywhere else in the United States! What better way to beat the heat than by diving into the pool? If you don’t have a pool of your own, it is time to make friends with someone who does! If you aren’t good at making friends, you can always find a community pool somewhere. A few hours splashing around will can get you through the hottest part of the day. Don’t forget your sunscreen!
