What is it:
Reverse Osmosis (RO) was developed in the late 1950’s, as a method of desalinating sea water. Today, reverse osmosis has earned its name as the most convenient and thorough method to filter water. It is used for recycling, wastewater treatment, producing energy, and most importantly providing crystal clear drinking water in your home.
How does it work:
There are four different sections to the RO system, the prefilter, membrane, final polish and fast recovery. The prefilter removes large particles in your water such as rust, silt and scale. This allows the semi permeable membrane to attack smaller particles. The membrane removes dissolved solids that are too small to have been caught by the prefilter and allows hydrogen and oxygen to pass through its microscopic pores. The final polish is an activated carbon filter which removes any remaining tastes and odors and delivers clean, fresh water. The fast recovery system refills your tank quickly to ensure that you have enough water for all your needs.
