Air Conditioner Installation FAQs

May 6, 2019

Choosing your next air conditioning unit can be a bit overwhelming, especially if you’re new to the process, and a slew of questions can come with this added stress.

Parker & Sons wants to help alleviate some of your stress by answering the most commons FAQs about installing a new air conditioner.

What type of air conditioners are there?

There are four primary types of air conditioning units:

  1. Central air conditioner
  2. Ductless, mini split air conditioner
  3. Window air conditioner
  4. Hybrid air conditioner

How do I know which system is right for me?

To a certain extent, you should be able to get an idea about what type of air conditioner is right for you based on the size of the space you need to cool. However, our technician shave years of experience working with air conditioners and are a good resource when you are trying to make this type of determination. We can help you figure out what type of system you will need and how powerful it should be.

How do I know when it’s time to replace my air conditioner?

If you notice your home isn’t cooling properly, it could be time for a replacement. The general rule of thumb is if repairs cost more than 50 percent of a new system, it’s time to upgrade. It’s simply not economical to pay more in repairs rather than getting a brand-new system.

How do I keep my new system in good condition?

Just like anything else in your home, your air conditioner needs to be cleaned regularly and well maintained. You can do the basics by yourself, like changing the filter, but to really extend the life of your system, you need to have a professional come out twice a year to make sure it’s functioning properly.

If you live in the Phoenix area and need assistance with upgrading your system or have questions, our Parker & Sons technicians would love to help you out! They’re certified, insured and have a wealth of experience.
